Orville K. Whitcanack, 67, suffered a heart attack at his home in Cantril Thursday, Oct. 18, and died in the emergency room of Van Buren County Hospital at Keosauqua at 8:18 p.m.

He was born to John and Della Doan Whitcanack on July 16, 1917, near Cantril. He served in the Air Force in World War II and operated a service station at Washington, later becoming an investments salesman. He also farmed south of Cantril, retiring and moving into town in 1978.

Mr. Whitcanack married Mary Louise Leavitt May 10, 1942, in Yuma, AZ. He was a member of the Eighth Air Force Historical Society.

Surviving: His wife; two sisters, Verda Parmelee, Los Angeles, and Marie Hughes, Cantril; and three brothers, Richard and Hollis Whitcanack, both of Arcadia, CA, and Dale Whitcanack, East Moline, IL

Funeral: 2 p.m. Sunday at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua, the Rev. Charles Butler; Lebanon Cemetery. A Heart Fund memorial has been established.
