Della May Whitcanack, age 87, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph H. Doan, was born on June 8, 1883, near Salem in Lee County, IA and was dead on arrival at Van Buren County Memorial Hospital, Keosauqua, Wednesday, Nov. 25, at 8:30 p.m.

She lived in Van Buren County most of her life. For the past 16 years, she had been a resident of the Watts Custodial Home in Milton, IA.

On Feb. 17, 1909, she married John Whitcanack. Her husband died in May of 1950. A son, Delbert, also preceded her in death in 1921.

She is survived by five sons, Hollis and Richard of California, Orville of Cantril, Glen of Rock Island, IL, and Dale of East Moline, IL; three daughters, Verda Parmelee and Helen Carnahan of California, Marie Hughes of Keosauqua; 29 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren; one sister, Allie Feldman of Bellwood, IL; other relatives and friends.

Services were held Saturday, Nov. 28, at 1:30 p.m. in the Cantril United Methodist Church with the Rev. Herbert Phillips officiating. Interment was in Lebanon Cemetery.
