Dan Louis Hull, the son of John and Margaret Hull, was born near Douds, Iowa, February 16, 1884, and departed from this life on April 24, 1936, at the age of 52 years, 2 months and 8 days.

On January 1, 1907 he was united in marriage to Emma Whitcanack, their married life being blessed with nine children. Two daughters died in infancy, two sons Louie W. of Milton and N.C. at home, five daughters, Mrs. Margaret A. Cassatt of Stronghurst, Ill; Mrs. Bernice Garmon of Rock Island, Ill; and Irene, Vada and Lola at home.

Mr. Hull, with his loved ones, resided on a farm north of Milton, enjoying their work and its associations in the community. During the years to come, his devotion, love, and tenderness will be written indelibly on the memory tablet of his wife and children. Throughout his life his foremost thoughts were centered about the welfare and comfort of his family, always striving for their provision, caring for them as a husband, and loving them as a sincere father. Long will he be remembered by his neighbors for his friendliness, for his spirit of cooperation, and readiness to be of any aid or unassuming patient, easily cared for, and greatly appreciating anything that was done for him.

In addition to his wife and family, he leaves to mourn, five grandchildren; four brothers, Loman and Lester of Ottumwa, Steve of Douds, Claude of Alma, CO; four sisters, Mrs. Ellen Boyd of Cleveland, OH, Mrs. Zula Pollock of Ottumwa, Mrs. Goldie Nichols of Davenport, Mrs. Maud Mathias of Selma, and a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the Lebanon M.E. Church in charge of the pastor, Rev. Charles Fix. Interment was made in the Lebanon cemetery. Beloved by all who knew him, unselfish, kind and true,

His thoughts were but for others as he was passing through.
He trusted all his friends to do what they thought was right,
And where his trust was centered he fought with all his might.
He’s gone but not forgotten, his deeds will ever live,
