William Hiram Whitcanack, son of William H. and Mariah Whitcanack was born January 22, 1846, in the state of Ohio and departed this life January 27, 1928, at his home in Van Buren county, Iowa, age eighty two years and five days, having lived the last seventy years at his home in the vicinity of Lebanon.

He was married September 7, 1871 to Mary Angeline Hull. To them were born five sons and three daughters, all of whom survive him. They are Mrs. Eva Gandy and C.L. of Des Moines, Iowa; Mrs. Mary Ruddell of California; Mrs. Emma Hull and J. F. of Milton, Iowa; Ira and Harrison of Keosauqua, Iowa; and Willis of Park City, Mont. Besides these of the immediate family he leaves to mourn their loss one sister, Mrs. Crayton Davis of Dayton; twenty-six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren and other relatives and friends in the community where he spent his life.

Early in life he united with the Presbyterian church at Lebanon, where he remained ever faithful in the belief in his Savior.

Mr. Whitcanack was a kind and loving husband and father, a good neighbor, never tiring in helping his fellowmen.
