HENRY C. HILL
On a farm in Huron County, Ohio, Henry Clay Hill was born to Hazen and Louise Hill, October 5, 1843. Here he grew to young manhood.
At the age of 20 years, he enlisted in the great National struggle of “61, and became a member of the 55th Ohio volunteers, infantry, and was with Sherman on his memorable march to the sea.
On September 8, 1869, he was united in marriage to Phoebe Ann Riggs. He took his bride to Missouri where they established a home, and two sons, Hazen and Harry were born.
Later they moved to Milton Iowa where he had made his home for over 40 years. It was in this town that he gave his very best to his friends and community, serving them with honesty and fidelity in the capacity of mayor, member of the school board and 17 years as postmaster.
(From the Keosauqua Republican April 28, 1927)
I am not related to Mr. Hill, only relating this to help others with their family history.
