MRS. MARTHA W. MILLER
Martha W. Miller, sixth child of Mary J. and A. S. Ryland and widow of Elisha E. Miller, was born Feb 4, 1853, on a farm about one mile norht of Bonaparte, and passed from this life on her adjoining farm, May 25, 1928, ages 75 years, 3 months and 21 days.
On Dec 14, 1875, she was untied in marriage to Elisha E. Miller, who preceded her in death August 30, 1916. To this union were born twelve children-six sons and six daughters-one son, Bennie Vance having died in infacy. There remains to mourn their loss and reverence her memory, the following children-Glenn A., Canyon Creek, Mont.; Franklin P., East Ely, Nevada; Boyd of Regina, Canada; Clayton and Elsie of Chicago, Ill; Mrs. Elizabeth Fuller of Valley Junction, Iowa; Mrs. Faye Dawson of Farmington; Byron, Goldie, Mrs. Grace Hortsman and Mrs. Marjorie Lindsay of Bonaparte.
She also leaves two brothers, L.E. Ryland of Des Moines, and W. P. Ryland of Chicago; two sister, Mrs. S. A. Murphy of Eldon and Mrs Mary Murray of Helena, Mont.; sixteen grandchildren, many nephews and nieces and other relatives and a host of friends.
Her entire life was spent in the neighborhood of her birth, where she was a pioneer, and known for her industriousness, jovial nature, hospitality and kindly ways.
She was an earnest supporter of the church, and gave freely to all, not letting "her right hand know what her left hand did." Her sympathy was given to everyone in trouble and substantial aid was extended to the needey.
She was a model mother, as noble a type of American womanhood as this generation has seen, and will be greatly missed by a large circle of relatives and friends for whom she always had a kind word and pleasant greeting.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the family home in charge of Rev. A. C. Droz. Music was furnished by a male quartet consisting of Messrs. A. G. Roberts, Roy Parr, O. C. Pettit and Harold Page. Interment in the White cemetery.
