Mrs. Gus Steburg
Mrs. Kate Steburg, second daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Meek, was born in Bonaparte, Iowa, July 1, 1859, and died at her home in Arnold, Nebraska, July 19, 1920 at the age of 61 years 19 days. She was educated at Bonaparte and at Visitation Academy of Ottumwa.
The following "In Memoriam"sketch is taken from the Arnold Sentinel of July 22:
"She resided in Iowa until April 1885 when she came to Armada, or what is now Miller, Nebraska, where she lived until the time of her marriage to Gus Steburg on December 24, 1890, moving then to Sumner. This was her home until January 1902 at which time they again moved to Miller, Nebraska. In the spring of 1918 they left Miller, seeking to improve her health, traveling for one year, when they came to Arnold, Nebr., which place has been her home since."
"She leaves behind to miss her, a kind and affectionate husband, one daughter, Mrs. W. R. Stewart and one son, Leonard M., both of Arnold; four sisters, Mrs. W. B. Cresap of Ft Madison, Ia., Mrs. Carl A. Weber and Miss Margaret Meek, both of Keokuk, Ia., and Mother S. F. Borgia, of Notre Dame Convent, Milwawkee, Wis., one brother, Robert E. Meek of Wellington, Kan. Besides these, she leaves two grandchildren many nieces and nephews, and an numberless of friends. Where ever her home was, everyone was her friend and neighbor."
"Through all her sickness of three years duration, she never allowed one complaint to be uttered, sincerely believing that everything was just and for the best. During all this time she received the devoted and undivided attention of her husband who gave to her unsparingly of his time and love and faithfulness.
