SUDDENLY SUMMONED--A Wife and Mother Goes to Sleep and Friends Mourn.--ITEMS OF INTEREST--Obituary
Ellen Woods was born Feb. 13, 1846, in Harrisburg township, being a daughter of the late A. H. and Elizabeth Woods.
On June 18 she was united in marriage with Eugene Glasscock and to them were born seven children, all of whom are living, excepting Jessie, who died June 21, 1899. The others are Charlie of Chicago, Wm. of Ottumwa, Mrs. Edna Thomas of Mr. Zion, Fannie, Alexander and Annie who are still at home. After her marriage she moved to the site of the late home, thence to the farm now owned by Mr. Pickard and from there to Bonaparte where she resided until 1896 when she returned to the home of her early married life, where she lived until Friday, April 13, 1906, when her death occurred at the age of 60 years and 2 months.
She was sick but a few hours, having assisted with the house work in the early morning but soon became so indisposed that her physician was called, who prescribed for her. At about half past eleven she decided to go upstairs and lie down and immediately after her doing so, her husband called to her and getting no response, went up to find that the faithful wife and devoted mother had passed away.
She leaves besides the husband and six children, two brothers, four sisters and a host of other relatives and friends who mourn her demise.
She united with the Presbyterian curch of Bonaparte, Feb. 1, 1897, since which she had so held her membership.
Funeral services in charge of Rev. Wehn, were held in the Presbyterian church of Bonaparte Sunday afternoon and interment was made in the Bonaparte cemetery.
