EUGENUS W. GLASGOW

Eugenus W. Glascock, the subject of this Memoir, was born June 17, 1848 in Bosba County, West Va., and passed peacefully to rest just at the dawn of a new day, February 25, 1921, aged 72 years, 8 months and 8 days.

He was the second child of Chapin and Rebecca Glascock, sturdy pioneer settlers of Iowa and for many years residents of Vernon.

Mr. Glascock was united in marriage to Miss Ellen Woods, daughter of the late Alex. Woods, June 18, 1871. Seven children blessed this union, and with the exception of a daughter, Jessie, whose death occured June 18, 1898, survive.

The faithful wife and mother passed to her reward April 13, 1906. Those who today mourn the loss of a father are: Charles of Kamploor, British Columbia, Willis of Ottumwas, Iowa: Mrs. Anna Pratt and Alex of Stockport: Frances of Bonaparte and Mrs. Edna Thomas, with whom he has made his home, and where every comfort that loving hearts could conceive cheered the closing years of life. With five grand-children whose frequent visits to grandpa were happy occasions to him. Two brothers also survive and are Clay of Des Moines, Gideon of Dayton, Ohio, with two sisters, Mrs. Ella Scott of Vernon, and Mrs. Jennie Van Scoy of New Virginia, Iowa.

Mr. Glascock was a man of congenial companionship with a kindly greeting, his "fireside chats" pleasantly reminiscent on treasured memories of early days and events.

The funeral was held Sunday at 2 P.M. at the Oscar Thomas home, with Rev. Chapman in charge, interment in the Bonaperte cemetery. All the children attended the funeral except Charles.
