Thomas Lowell Casady, son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Casady, was born January 9, 1906, near Milton Iowa, and passed away at the home of his parents on November 3, 1937, at the age of 31 years, nine months and 24 days. His passing came after a brief illness of eight days duration of pneumonia and complications.
On March 23, 1929, he was united in marriage to Florence Miers. To this union were born two sons, Richard Lowell and Sammie Dean.
Besides his faithful companion and children, he leaves to mourn his passing; his father and mother, two sisters, Mrs. Marie Zeitler of Douds and Mrs. Helen Elder of Keokuk, eight brothers, Art of Keosauqua, Hazen of Cedar Rapids, Charlie and August of Sheboygan Wisconsin, Walter of North English, Harold of Fairfield and Albert and Nile of Milton, all of whom were privileged to be with him in his brief illness. He also leaves his aged grandmother, Mrs. Ann Casady of San Diego California, many other relatives and a host of friends. He was preceded in death, by an infant brother Olan.
He united with the Christian church at the age of fourteen and lived a faithful Christian life. Tom numbered his friends by his acquaintances, was of a sunny disposition and very considerate of others, often risking his own health for the comfort of others. His family was always uppermost in his thoughts. Only the day before taking sick, he had returned from the Ottumwa hospital where he had spent over a week at the side of his son Sammie, who had undergone a double mastoid operation. His last conscious thoughts were for the safety of Sammie, from whom he had been separated.
Tom was a member of the Milton K. of P. lodge and of the Milton volunteer fire department.
During his brief illness he was given all the care that loving hand and medical aid can give. His passing leaves a place in the home and in many hearts that can never be filled.
Funeral services were held at two o’clock Friday afternoon at the Christian church in Milton, conducted by the pastor Rev. A.M. Hadley. A quartet composed of Mrs. J.E. Marshall, Mrs. M.E. Atkins, D.A. Miller and Gay Morgan sang accompanied at the piano by Mrs. W.D.Sherwood.
Pallbearers were Glen Lunsford, Joe Moore, Marion Douglas, Dean Shellhous, Stanley Beggs and Carl Casady. Members of the K. of P. and the Top Hatters club attended in a body. Interment was made in the Milton Sunnyside cemetery. I am not related, and am posting this obituary for those who might find this person in their family history.
