Virgil Emory Simpson, son of Alexander and Elizabeth Simpson, was born July 29, 1862 on a farm near Milton Iowa, and passed away at his home in Milton, December 4, 1934, at the age of 72 years, 4 months and 5 days.
On December 25, 1884, he was united in marriage to Mary Frances Wolf. To this union two children were born: Roy of Milton and Mrs. Edna Steidley of Albuquerque New Mexico. They began their wedded life on a farm five miles south of Milton, where they resided until 1913, when they moved to Illinois, where they lived for several years, returning to Milton, where the wife and mother passed away June 29, 1927.
He continued to make him home in Milton, where he was active in church and business circles.
About a year ago his health began to fail and in April he went to the hospital where on April 15, he submitted to an operation from which he never recovered.
On June 10, he was united in marriage to Mrs. Lucy Whittaker of Ashland Nebraska, who has tenderly cared for him during his last illness.
Emory united with the Methodist church in Milton in 1886, and remained a faithful member to the end. He was a member of the Masonic order and Eastern Star.
He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather; a good neighbor and friend, always willing to lend aid whenever needed. He will be greatly missed in the home and community.
He leaves to mourn his departure, his wife, son and daughter, son-in-law and daughter-in-law, five grandchildren besides many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at 2:00 at the Methodist church.
Services conducted by the pastor Rev. M.D. Wyatt. Burial was in Sunnyside Cemetery. I am not related and am posting this obituary for those who might find this person in their family history.
