Carrie Townsend, daughter of Charles and Phoebe Fisher, was born October 12, 1871 in Clarke County Missouri, and passed away at the hospital in Mt Pleasant Iowa, July 13, 1936, at the age of 64 years, 9 months and 3 days. Mrs. Townsend had been in failing health for the past 18 months.
She was united in marriage to Rocky Townsend, February 15, 1903.
Having no children of their own, they adopted a daughter, Leota, who has been a great comfort to them through the years.
Mrs. Townsend united with the Presbyterian Church at Lebanon Iowa, when quite young, later transferring her membership to the Milton Presbyterian Church. She was ever faithful to her Master and looked to him for comfort and help in time of trouble. She leaves to mourn her loss, her husband, daughter Leota, son-in-law, Glen Campbell and granddaughter Roberta; one sister Mrs. Helen Moore and 4 brothers, Henry, Edward, John and Clarence Fisher, all of Milton, also many friends.
She was preceded in death by her father; mother; and one sister, Mary Black. She will be greatly missed by the family and a large circle of friends.
The funeral was held at the Presbyterian Church in Milton, Friday, July 17, 1936 at 10 a.m. conducted by Rev. L.B. Harmon. Interment was in the Milton Sunnyside cemetery. I am not related and am posting this obituary for those who might find this person in their family history.
