Beryl A. O’Neal, only son of H.G. and Rose O’Neal, was born at Savannah, Davis county Iowa, March 2, 1894. He departed this life Thursday morning June 23, 1932, at St Joseph Hospital, Ottumwa Iowa, following an illness of five days.
When a small child the family moved to Bloomfield Iowa, where they resided for several years, moving to Milton in 1904. This place has been his home, with the exception of six months spent at Donnellson.
April 30, 1921, he was united in marriage to Miss Hollie Stevig. This happy marriage ended in sorrow, the young wife passing away less than one year after their marriage, leaving a little daughter, Hollie Stevig O'Neal.
In December 1925, he was married to Miss Pauline Wandel. To this union was born a son Jack Wandel Oneal.
Mr. O'Neal united with the Christian Church a number of years ago, during the pastorate of Rev. Howard. He served his country during the World War, having spent 18 months overseas, a member of Company D, 33rd Engineers.
Besides his wife and children, he leaves to mourn his passing, his parents; a sister, Mrs. J.I. Sell, and his aged grandfather, Mr. W.H. Fix. A sister Grethel Faye O'Neal preceded him in death June 23, 1913.
Beryl was a man who numbered his friends by the score. He was honest and upright in his dealings with his fellow men, and always ready to lend a helping hand.
Funeral services were held at the Christ Church Saturday afternoon, conducted by Rev. H.C. Shaw. John R. Holland accompanied by Miss Marian Marshall contributed two beautiful solos. Pallbearers were Ed and Solly Jenkins, George Martin, M.E. Atkins, A.P. Hoskins and W.A. Sell. Interment was made in Sunnyside cemetery. I am not related and am posting this obituary for those who might find this person in their family history.
