Herbert J. Rowlamd son of Robert R. and Frances Ellen Rowland was born in Milton Iowa, December 30, 1877, and passed away at his home in Milton, January 24, 1936 attaining the age of 58 years and 24 days.
His father was one of the founders of Rowland Brothers merchantile store in Milton which is known over southern Iowa.
With the exception of 18 months spent in California, he had been a resident of Milton all of his life and for many years was a clerk in the Rowland store.
He was united in marriage to Miss Georgia Marsan, of Milton and to this union three daughters and one son were born. Frances, now Mrs. C.K. Bradley, Vivian and Katheryn and Donald, all who reside in Des Moines.
He is survived by his wife, daughters and son, one brother O.E. Rowland, one sister Mrs. Nettie Miller of Santa Monica California, his parents and a younger brother Robert Jr. having preceded him in death.
The funeral was held at the M.E. Church in Milton Sunday afternoon, January 26, 1936, in charge of the Burnetts. The sermon was by the pastor, Rev. E.H. Hehner, music by John R. Holland and Hazel Brady. The body bearers were Paul Hoskins, Keith Brown, M.E. Atkins, Halsey Harbin, Roy Snyder, and Eddie Jenkins. Burial was in the Milton Sunnyside cemetery. I am not related and am posting this obituary for those who might find this person in their family history.
