Deborah Ann Price, the daughter of S.P. and Elizabeth Rowland was born in Milton Delaware, June 30, 1841 and died at her home in Milton Iowa, December 29, 1911, aged 70 years,5 months and 29 days.
When still in her infancy, her parents moved to Iowa and settled in the present locality of Milton upon the farm southwest of town known as the Rowland Homestead, thus her entire life has been lived in this community.
She was united in marriage January 1, 1860 to Thomas Price and shortly after they moved to town and to the present home place where they have spent fifty-two happy years. To this union were born seven children of whom five are still living, two having preceded the mother to the heavenly home, Eddie who died in infancy and the second child Mary Rosella who died at the age of fourteen years. Her five children Sarah Elizabeth Clendenen, George W., Samuel Clay, John Rowland and Carrie Myrtle Cooley were all present as also her only sister Mary E. Rowland, and her two brothers Robert and J.D. Rowland.
Mrs. Price was baptized in infancy in the Mississippi River on the route to Milton and was converted and united with the Methodist Episcopal Church in the year 1856 when a girl fifteen years old, of which church she has remained a faithful member since. Her faith grew into the rich fruitage of a happy life, all who knew her were blessed by her sunny and cheerful disposition. Yet in justice to sister Price it must be said that it was her ambition to live for her home and her life was given in devotion to her children the thirteen grandchildren and the great grandchild Thomas Orin, also of whom loved her dearly.
Thus quietly, and as a surprise to many of her friends who did not know of her serious condition, she fell asleep in Jesus to awaken to the morning of eternal day.
The funeral was held from the residence Sunday December 31, 1911, at 2 p.m., conducted by Rev. O.G. Orcutt, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Milton Sunnyside Cemetery. Thus another good woman has gone, another home and chair left vacant. I am not related and am posting this obituary for those who might find this person in their family history.
