William W. Wixom

William W. Wixom died Monday forenoon at the late home here after an illness of long standing. He was born Jan. 17, 1848 near Peoria, Ill. As a boy of 17 he joined the union army and was a veteran of the Civil war. He was a farmer by occupation and was a pioneer resident of this community. He was of a friendly, kindly disposition.

The wife and five children preceded him in death. Those surviving are the following children, Jess of Cedar Rapids, Isaac B. of Keokuk, Mrs. Cora Washburn of New Boston and Samuel, Walter and Clarence of Farmington. There are 17 grandchildren and two great grandchildren aad [sic] many friends. Mr. Wixom was a member of Co. D, 42nd Missouri Infantry.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon. Burial in the family lot in Acklan cemetery east of town.
