MARGARET KELLER
The funeral of Mrs. Margaret Keller, whose death occurred at her home in West Van Buren township Thursday morning, Feb. 19, was conducted by Rev. J. C. Caughlan of Keosauqua at the home Sunday at 2 p.m.
Margaret Smith was born in Des Moines township, Van Buren county, Iowa, April 30, 1844. She was the fourth in a family of eight daughters and one son. She was married to John Wesley Keller Nov. 20, 1863. About one year later they purchased a part of the land that constitutes the present home, where she had resided continously, excepting two years spent at Cantril and two years in Keosauqua. Mrs. Keller was never a strong woman but she was ever ready when called upon, either night or day, to lend a helping hand in sickness or wherever needed. She was truly a good woman, and will be sadly missed, both in the home and neighborhood.
She and her husband were members of the M.E. church for more than 30 years, transfering [sic] their letter to the Presbyterian church, she being a member of the Lebanon Presbyterian church at the time of her death. Her husband preceded her in death eleven years ago.
She leaves two living children, J. J. of Saguache, Colo., and Emma of Keosauqua. One son, William, died in infancy. She also leaves two sisters, Mrs. Lydia Smith of Arbela, Mo., and Mrs. Amanda Roberts of Liberty, Neb.
