O. C. WILSON COMMITS SUICIDE
We recently published an account of the suicide of O. C. Wilson, a former Milton resident. We take the following account of his death from Longmont, Colorado, papers, and publish it at the request of his father, Curtis Wilson, of Lebanon.
Orie Curtis Wilson, 51 years old, shot himself to death with a small caliber rifle at his home, 817 Emery street, shortly after 8 o'clock this morning.
Wilson was found by his wife, Mrs. Mayme Wilson, slumped on the floor of his bedroom. He was unconscious. Dr. W. R. Benson was called and with the assistance of W. L. Haverty, who rents part of the house, placed Wilson on his bed. Dr. J. W. Fonda also was called.
The wounded man had been shot between the eyes. Wilson is said to have been exceptionally nervous. Worry and domestic troubles are thought to have prompted the act.
WIFE HAD SUED FOR DIVORCE
Last April Mrs. Wilson was granted an iterlocutory decree of divorce from Wilson. She was granted the custody of one son, Russell, 14 years old.
February 13, 1929, a petition was filed in district court by Baker & Smith, Mrs. Wilson's attorneys, seeking the final decree.
In this petition it is said that the couple have the home on Emery street valued at $2,500 and a farm in Van Buren county, Iowa, worth $10,000.
Mrs. Wilson claims that her husband gave her the home here which had a $1,500 mortgage against it. She said he also gave her a note for $1,500 which has not entirely been paid. Wilson was charged with cruelty in the complaint, which says that they have resumed living under the same roof. It is said that Mrs. Wilson hoped to effect a reconciliation, but that the attempt failed.
Two and one-half years ago the Wilson came to Longmont for the benefit of Mrs. Wilson's health. It is said that the husband wished to return to the Iowa farm. The wife could not do so because of her health. This question, it is said, caused many disputes.
The petition for the final decree was to be heard in Boulder, Friday. Tuesday Wilson went to Boulder and secured Attorney Frank Dolan to represent him.
SENT WIFE TO HOME OF NEIGHBOR
Wednesday morning Wilson came in the house from the yard and told his wife that Mrs. J. T. Harris, 820 Kimbark, a neighbor, wanted to see her.
When Mrs. Wilson arrived at the Harris home she learned that she had not been called.
Hurrying home she found her husband unconscious in his room.
Mrs. Wilson went into the rooms occupied by Mr. and Mrs. Haverty. Mrs. Haverty called the physicians while her husband quieted Mrs. Wilson.
Haverty said he did not remember distinctly of hearing the shot until Mrs. Wilson asked him. He believes the gun was fired soon after Mrs. Wilson left for the neighbor's home.
Deputy District Attorney E. N. Donnellan, Coroner A. E. Howe, Undersheriff Robert Burgener and local police investigated the tragedy.
A note addressed to Mr. Wilson's parents was found when the body was examined at a mortuary. It told them not to grieve and asked them to be good to his son Russell, and requested that his body be buried in Iowa, beside his baby who died in infancy.
Wilson was born in Van Buren county, Iowa Sept. 19, 1878 and he was married to Miss Mayme McGlofton 21 years ago.
