NELLIE MARIE BEATTY

The William Beatty family, who live about four miles down the river from this place, have the especial sympathy of the public in the loss of their daughter Nellie, aged 19, for at the time of the daughter's death the father and mother were very sick with grippe or pneumonia and a younger brother was barely able to be up.

Nellie Marie Beatty was born July 7, 1888, and died of pneumonia January 31, 1908, after a short illness. She was a graduate of the Keosauqua high school, class of 1906, and had taken up the study of shorthand. She was a loveable young lady, and her friends were numbered with her acquaintances. The funeral services and burial were put off until Tuesday afternoon of this week, awaiting the arrival of Linn, a brother of the deceased, who was at Cooperstown, N. Dak., and who arrived at home Monday. A short service was held at the home, Tuesday afternoon where two of the family were confined to their beds, and a service was also held at the M. E. church here immediately after. The services were conducted by Rev. Hardy A. Ingham, a former pastor of this church, and in whose pastorate, we believe, Nellie united with the church. The church was crowded beyond its seating capacity and the floral offerings were profuse and beautiful. The burial was in the Fellows cemetery.
