OBITUARY

James Craney, aged 80 years, died at the home of his daughter Mrs. James Burns of this place, Thursday afternoon, Sept. 26, 1907. About a year ago he had a stroke of paralysis and since that time he had been an invalid. He was born in Ireland, near Kilkenny, and immigrated to America with his mother when James the youngest one of several children, was about 16, his father having died before the immigration. They first settled in the state of New York, and in 1865 he moved to Keosauqua, where he lived one winter. From here he located in Des Moines township, and later bought a farm there where he lived for a number of years. He then moved to the vicinity of Farmington and lived there until the death of his wife about five years ago, since which time he made his home with his children, for the most part with his daughter Mrs. James Burns. The funeral was held Saturday in the Catholic church at Farmington, the services being conducted by Father Daly. He was buried in the Farmington cemetery by the side of his wife and a daughter.
