OBITUARY
PHOEBE MILLER

Phoebe Miller was born in Hawking county, Ohio, January 3, 1826, and died at her home near Mt. Sterling, Van Buren county, Iowa, August 14, 1904. In 1848 she came to Iowa, and was married to Richard Poling, December 25, 1849. To them were born nine children, six of whom still live--four boys and two girls. These and twenty-one grand children and one great grand child mourn the loss of an indulgent mother and grand mother. When quite young she joined the United Brethren church, but about forty years ago she changed her church fellowship and united with the M. E. church, of which she was a member at the time of her death. A brief service was held at Center Chapel, after which she was laid to rest beside her husband in the cemetery near by to await the general resurrection.

Center Chapel Cemetery shows following:
Richard D. Poling died August 22, 1894 aged 70 yrs 2 mos 15 dys
Pheby Poling, wife of R. Poling, died Aug. 14, 1905 [error- s/b 1904?] aged 78 yrs 7 mo, 11 dys
