THE TRAGIC DEATH OF AN AGED FARMER
------
ROYAL POLING'S BODY FOUND IN BARNYARD ON FARM NEAR MT. STERLING
------
The body of Royal Poling was found last Sunday lying on the ground between his house and barn and it was evident that he had been dead for several days.

Mr. Poling was a bachelor and lived alone on a farm northwest of Mt. Sterling. It was evident that he had gone to the barn to do the chores and was returning to the house when he fell to the ground. The milk pail was upset. Tracks, the condition of the live stock, etc., indicated that he had been dead since Thursday or Friday. He was 72 years of age.

A neighbor boy by the name of Bennett went to his home Sunday to make a short visit and found him as above stated.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday at Center Chapel, Rev. Bruvold officiating.

Center Chapel Cemetery shows:
Royal Poling March 9, 1855 - January 5, 1928
buried next to Richard D. & Pheby Poling [nee Miller]
