HENRY C. GUERNSEY

Henry Cushaman Guernsey, son of Newson and Ruth Jefferson Guernsey was born in Rochester, Vermont, January 14, 1842, and died at his home in Bloomfield, March 12, 1929, aged 87 years 1 month and 28 days.

He was twice married. His first marriage was to Rebecca J. Evans of Troy who died in the bloom of young motherhood. To this union were born three sons, Wm. D. of Prosser, Wash., Newsom E., of Milton and "little Henry" who died in infancy. His second marriage was to Jennie Dysart of Troy. To this union were born five children, Mrs. Helen Rebecca Shaw of Phoenix, Ariz.; Mrs. Henrietta G. Potter of Seattle, Wash.; Mrs. Ruth G. Kelly of San Diego, Calif.; Samuel Dysart, deceased; and Dr. Paul F. Guernsey of Los Angeles, Calif.

He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife, the six children, eighteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren and a number of nephews and nieces.

He was of sturdy New England stock, being descended from the Guernsey's who settled in New Haven in 1635, the Perrys, the Jeffersons and the Emersons.

He was a charter member of the Lebanon Presbyterian church and on coming to Bloomfield in 1884 transferred his membership to the Bloomfield Presbyterian church, of which he was a member at the time of his death. He was a member of the Board of Trustees for a time until prevented from serving by infirmities. And now he has passed on to the eternal life a kind and loving husband and father.

Funeral services for Henry C. Guernsey were held at the Presbyterian church Saturday morning, March 16, at 10:30, conducted by his pastor, Rev. Allison.

Special music was furnished by Mrs. A. F. Steffen and Mrs. Frank Kline and Messrs. H. C. Brown and A. B. Welch, the quartet singing "Rock of Ages," Jesus, Savior Pilot Me," and "Abide With Me.," Mrs. H. C. Moore played the accompaniments. [sic].

Interment in the I. O. O. F. cemetery.
