We received word yesterday afternoon that Mr. J.M. Gelatt, a prominent citizen of this county years ago, had died at his home in Louisville, Kentucky, and that the remains would be brought to the old home in Vernon to be buried in the cemetery there at 2’oclock today. The body is accompanied by his son, R.B. Gelatt, editor of a daily paper in La Cross, Wisconsin. Mr. Gelatt was for some time in the Sixties, engaged in business at Vernon, and, if we are not mistaken, one of the largest and best residences in that place, later the home of George W. Meredith, deceased, was built by Mr. Gelatt.
