John Marshall Cass was born Sept. 8, 1856, in Alamakee county, Iowa. In 1865 with his parents he moved to the farm where he resided until his death. He was married in April, 1882, to Miss Bell Brook of Bentonsport, Iowa. To this union were born four children, Duane, Carl, Earl, and Ina. All are living except Earl. The wife and mother died Nov. 28, 1894. The deceased was married again April 25, 1900, to Miss Stella Alexander of Bentonsport. She with her father and mother, one brother and one sister, survives him. The only brother, Duane, lives in Milan, Mo. The only sister, Mrs. Stella Proper, lives in Los Angeles, Cal. About a month ago the old chronic trouble came upon him but he bravely bore his sufferings until death came Friday, Nov. 13, 1903. The funeral sermon was preached by Rev. Lloyd Tennant, after which the body was laid away in the Bentonsport cemetery.
