Daniel Bushell, was born in London, England, June 17, 1836. When 16 years of age he went from England to Melbourn [sic], Australia, in 1852. While he was there he was married to Miss Amelia Stone. To this union to children were born--Amelia and Alfred, both living; one in Missouri and one in Minnesota. His wife died in Australia about 1869 or 1870. After her death he returned to London, where he remained two years. He came to America in 1872 and settled in Bonaparte. He was married to Miss Mary A. Moreland, a Farmington, December 8, 1874. To them were born three children, Edward C., of Keokuk, Mrs. Sadie Baugher, of Anson, Mo., and Gettie, who is at home. He was a member of the Church of England; but never took his membership from the home church in England. For many years he was a member of the Masonic order and carried his membership until his death.

He died in Bonaparte, Iowa, on Tuesday, Jan. 24th, 1899, leaving to mourn their loss his companion, five children in America and one brother and three sisters in London, England. The funeral occurred from his late home Thursday, January 26, 1899, conducted by Rev. G. W. Barber, of Farmington. Bonaparte Lodge, No. 73, A. F. and A. M., of which deceased was an honored member, had charge of the last sad rights.
