Frances Hunt

MILTON -- Frances E. Hunt, 65, of Milton died at 2:18 a.m. July 28, 2002, at University Hospital, Iowa City of cancer.

She was born Sept. 14, 1936, in Mount Pleasant to Lewis J. and Nina Roth Zihlman. She married Douglas E. Hunt April 29, 1957, at Rockport, Mo.

She grew up in Milton and graduated from Milton High School in 1954. She attended Mount St. Clair College, Clinton, and Mercy School of Nursing, Burlington. She had resided in many states with her husband. She had been employed by Forest Lawn Cemetery, Glendale, Calif., and in management with Mervyn's Department Stores in Texas, opening stores throughout the United States. She resided in Burlington and retired to Milton in 1990. She authored the book "A Town on the Prairie, the First 150 Years" for Milton's sesquicentennial in 2001 and wrote the script for the Russell Oaks Cemetery walk.

Surviving are her husband; two daughters, Cindy Merschbrock of Rochester, Minn., and Teresa Koffend of Winfield; a son, Ed Hunt of Milton and 10 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Mary Elizabeth.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Cantril Christian Church with the Rev. Jerry Caughron officiating. Burial will be in Russell Oaks Cemetery, Milton.

Visitation will open at 2 p.m. today (Tuesday) in Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua, with the family present from 7 to 8 p.m.

Memorials to the family may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 201 W. Harrison, Milton, Iowa 52570.
