Soloman Wilhelm, third son of David and Katharine Wilhelm, was born in Holmes county, Ohio, Sept. 6, 1845, and died in Van Buren Co., Iowa, March 8, 1916, aged 70 years, 6 months and 2 days.

He united with the Dunkard church about 30 years ago and has lived a faithful christian life. He was a great traveler, having been in nearly all the western states. He came to Iowa with his parents in the sixties. He was never married, living with his parents until they died about 21 years ago.

He then went to the eastern states, was there 8 years, then went to Oregon, was gone 9 years, then came back making a visit with home folks. He returned to the east, was gone 4 years and returned to Bentonsport January 19, 1916.

He was one of eleven children, of these six survive. They are Isaiah of West Virginia, Frank of Des Moines, Iowa, John of Fairfield, Iowa, Noah of Bentonsport, Iowa, and Mrs. Sarah Engle of Malcomb, Iowa, and Mrs. Louvina Gillaspie, at whose home he peacefully passed away, having been bedfast five weeks. He was kindly and faithfully taken care of by his brother, Noah and sister Mrs. Gillaspie.
