Mary Margaret Lowe
Mary Margaret Johnson was born December 16, 1916 in rural Farmington township, Van Buren County, Iowa, to Leslie and Addie Mae Lindsay Johnson. She died June 5th, 2002 at the age of 85 at Van Buren County Hospital, Keosauqua, IA. She was a resident of Country Lane Apartments, Keosauqua.
She married Percy Lowe July 1st, 1937 at Kahoka, MO. To this marriage were born two sons and a daughter, who survive; Larry of Marshalltown, IA, Richard of Keosauqua and Karen Duncan of Mt. Pleasant, IA.
She was preceded in death by her late husband who died March 3, 1998, as well as by her parents, one sister, Florence, and four brothers, William, Leslie, Paul and Joseph. She is survived by a brother John of W. Burlington. She is also survived by six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
She was a lifelong resident of Van Buren County except for a period of eight years spent in Newton, IA, and about one year in Kearny, Nebraska where she graduated from high school. After completing her normal training at Bonaparte High School, she taught country school.
She was employed for 23 years at the Bonaparte Glove Factory. She also served as Bonaparte City Clerk for a number of years and owned and operated Lowe’s Decorating Service. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Keosauqua.
Funeral services were held Sat., June 8, 2002 at United Methodist Church, Keosauqua, Rev. ellis andrews officiating. Burial of cremains will be at Bonaparte Cemetery alongside her husband.
Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church of Keosauqua, or to the Bonaparte Cemetery Association.
