Gwendolene Lepper, 91, of Selma, died at 10:10 p.m. Friday, February 2, 2001 at Jefferson County Hospital, Fairfield. She was born May 13, 1909 near Selma to Edward and Clara Bevier Dooley. She married Ralph Lepper April 2, 1928 in Ottumwa. He died July 27, 1972. She graduated from Selma High School in 1926 and lived her life in the Selma community until entering Parkview Care Center, Fairfield in August, 1999. She was a member of Selma United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women, was an active musician in the church both as a vocalist and pianist and had been a member of the former Selma Community Club. Surviving are two daughters, Evelyn Lepper of Selma and Phyllis Thompson and her husband, Tom of Fairfield, two grandchildren, Dr. Jay D Horton and his wife, Jan of Plano, TX and Jolene Horton of St. Louis, MO, and a sister Melva McClure of Bloomfield. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Gale and Dean Dooley and two sisters, Gleda Davis and Lorene Lynch.
