MRS. FRANK CAROTHERS CLAIMED FARM PICTURE.
Mrs. Frank Carother of near Anson, claimed the farm picture which appeared in the Courier last week.
Mrs. Carothers farm of 122 1/2 acres is just west of highway 81, and with hailing distance of the place of her mother, Mrs. Charles Riley. It is 11 1/4 miles north of Kahoka and in the Collins school district.
Mrs. Carothers took charge of the place in 1938 when it carried a good loan. She lifted the mortgage in 1938 and since that time has spent a sum equal to the amount of the old debt in the improvement of the farm buildings, expecially the barn, and the house which received roofs, siding and paint.
Mrs. aCarothers has set out some fine shade trees, fruit trees and shrubbery and has installed a fish pool and an outdoor oven. She has a fine lawn which she mows in addition to her farm work.
Practically all the land is subject to cultivation but she leases out eighty acres. She milks three cows, has a hundred head of hogs and 14 chickens.
The farm is on a rock road, school bus route and REA.
Her daughter, Sylvia, is a high school student at Revere. Mrs. Carothers promptly framed her picture and ordered a second.
