Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Pratt and son, of Burlington, visited the first of the week with relatives here.
John McAllister left with Burlington selectives this Thursday morning for Des Moines, where he will be inducted into the army.
Ronald McLeland and Leslie Runyon left last week for Des Moines for army induction.
Mrs. George Miller, Dale Miller, Rae and Miss Mildred Glascock spent the week end in Des Moines at the Steve Harland home.
Rev. and Mrs. Putnam, were Sunday guests at the Verne Bradfield home.
Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Miller of Chicago were week end guests at the parental George Miller home.
V.O. Wright has purchased the 80 acre farm 1 1/4 miles south of town known as the John Downard farm and occupied by the Jake Vicars family from John Cruikshank of Fort Madison. Mr. Wright plans to make some improvements and move to the new location March 1st, 1943.
The Clem Phillips family of Colorado Springs, Colo., are visiting relatives in the vicinity.
Relatives and friends of Fayette McKee report that he has been sent from Camp Sustic, Va., to Tyler, Texas, where he is attending an electrical school.
Mrs. Lacy Loving has moved her furniture from what is know as the Vinnie Rawley property east of town, to the home of her daughter, near Glasgow.
Oren DeWitt spent a few days last week with Stockport relatives. He has resigned his position at the Burlington defense plant and expects to return to Detroit, Mich., to seek employment.
The Women's Society of Christian Service of the Methodist church, will meet in the church parlors on Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 14, with Mrs. Gladys McKee and Mrs. Jay Morris.
Friends of Mr. and Mrs. James Gray will be interested to know that they have been transferred from Burlington ordnance plant to a Denver, Colo., defense plant in an effort to benefit the health of their ten year old son, Ronald, who is suffering from tuberculosis. Mr. Gray served as pastor of the Methodist church here two years ago.
