YOUNG MARRIED COUPLES ORGANIZE
The Van Buren County Rural Young Married Couples, 35 years and under, met for their organization meeting last Wednesday evening at the hotel in Keosauqua with 30 in attendance.
For this first meeting one young married couple from each township in the county was invited to attend and help formulate plans for further meetings. Gene Cook, district organization director, outlined plans set up by young married couples in other counties and assisted in formulating plans for this group. Despite the threatening weather this meeting proved very interesting and a good crowd was in attendance.
The next meeting is planned for Tuesday evening, June 2, with invitations extended to all young married couples in the county under 35 years. Young married couples are asked to contact the following couples from their township for reservations for the next meeting and to learn more about the plans for further meetings: Mr. and Mrs. Orville Lanman of Bonaparte twp.; Mr. and Mrs. LaMonte Askew of Cedar twp.; Mr. and Mrs. Burl Smith of Chequest twp.; Mr. and Mrs. Wiley Alexander of Des Moines twp.; Mr. and Mrs. M.B. Boyer of Farmington twp.; Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Huff of Harrisburg twp.; Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Cooper of Henry twp.; Mr. and Mrs. Waldo Jannings of Jackson twp.; Mr. and Mrs. Donald Harryman of Lick Creek twp.; Mr. and Mrs. Craig Stoops of Union twp.; Mr. and Mrs. Estel Craig of Van Buren twp.; Mr. and Mrs. Kermit Plowman of Village twp.; Mr. and Mrs. Stuart McCracken of Washington twp.; and Mr. and Mrs. George Summers for towns.
