DECEMBER THIRTY-FIRST.
On the last day of 1902 two of
Bonaparte's young people
were united at Keosauqua.WELCH-DAY.
A wedding which was fraught with great interest to the people of Bonaparte took place in Keosauqua December 31, 1902. At one o'clock on the afternoon of that day Mr. William B. Welch and Miss Lottie Day were united in marriage, Rev. James Welch, father of the groom, performing the ceremony.
The bride was most becomingly gowned in a blue tailor suit. The groom looked quite "pat" in a suit of black.
After the ceremony, which was witnessed by the immediate relatives of the contracting parties, a wedding dinner was served and Mr. and Mrs. Welch departed late in the afternoon for their home in Mt. Sterling which Mr. Welch had in readiness for his bride.
Mrs. Welch is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. I. B. Day, whose home was near Utica until last summer when they moved from the farm to Keosauqua. By many Mrs. Welch is thought to be the fairest of the seven Days of this family. At any rate she is a refined, educated young lady, who will make Mr. Welch an admirable companion.
William B. Welch is a young many of unquestioned and unquestionable character. His home has been in Bonaparte most of his life, having assisted his brother-in-law, J. A. Johnson, in the bank, and for several years was foreman of the RECORD office. It was on account of his well known integrity and trustworthiness as well as his marked business ability that led the directors of the Farmers and Traders State Bank to select him as cashier of the Mt. Sterling Savings Bank, which position he is now filling.
Mrs. Welch may be considered a Bonaparte girl, having been graduated in the schools of this place and made this her home for several years.
Mr. and Mrs. Welch will be at home after January 10, 1903, in Mt. Sterling, Iowa.
