SHEPHERD LEADS LADY.

On the Eve of the New Year's Day
at the home of the Bride
in Bonaparte.

SHEPHERED-BECK.

Seven o'clock on New Year's eve, at the John Q. Beck home in Bonaparte occurred the marriage of Mr. Elmer N. Shepherd and Miss Margaret J. Beck.

There were very few to say "I told you so." at this wedding for these young people had carried on their courting so quietly that the happy event was not anticipated by many.

Only the relatives were present to witness the ceremony which was performed by Rev. J. L. Ayrault. On the following day, January 1, 1903, they went to Mr. Shepherd's home near Bentonsport where a second wedding feast was enjoyed.

Mrs. Shepherd is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Q. Beck. She has grown to womanhood in this place and is well known and loved for her beautiful character and pleasant disposition. She was a graduate of the class of 1894.

Elmer N. Shepherd is a son of Francis and Jane Shepherd. His father died three years ago and Elmer, who was then away attending college, came home and assumed the responsibilities of the farm. He taught school in this county for several terms and has the respect of all his acquaintances.

Mr. and Mrs. Shepherd will live at the Shepherd home near Bentonsport until March when they will go to Michigan and attend college together. Mr. Shepherd is fitting himself to be a teach of some special study.
