WARRANTY DEED
Filed for record July 13th A. D. 1889 at 10.45 o'clock A. M.
D. K. Kittle Recorder Van Buren County, Iowa.Know all Men by these Presents, That We Samuel Chapman and Sarah S. Chapman of Van Buren County, and State of Iowa in consideration of the sum of Five hundred DOLLARS, in hand paid by Amy E. Whitmore of Van Buren County, and State of Iowa do hereby SELL AND CONVEY unto the said Amy E. Whitmore the following described premises, situated in the County of Van Buren, and State of Iowa, to-wit:
The West half (1/2) of the South East (1/4) quarter of the South West (1/4) quarter of Section Number (3) three Township (68) Sixty Eight - Range (8) Eight - West, Containing (20) Twenty Acres more or less.
And We hereby covenant with the said Amy E. Whitmore that We hold said premises by title in fee simple; that We have good right and lawful authority to sell and convey the same; that they are free and clear of all liens and incumbrances whatsoever; and we covenant to WARRANT AND DEFEND the said premises against the lawful claims of all persons whomsoever.
And the said Sarah S. Chapman hereby relinquishes all right of dower in and to the above described premises.

On this 26th day of October A. D. 1888, before me, James Wm Rice a Notary Public within and for said County, personally came Samuel Chapman and Sarah S. Chapman husband and wife personally to me known to be the indentical persons whose names are affixed to the above instrument as grantors, and have acknowledged the execution of the same to be their voluntary act and deed for the puruposes therein expressed.
