Edward Sleigh To Wm P. Chapman

For the consideration of Eight Hundred and fifty Dollars ($850) we Edward Sleigh and Sophia Sleigh his wife by our Legal Attorney John Pesecker do hereby sell and convey to William P. Chapman the following tract of Land To wit commencing at the North East corner of the North West 1/4 of Section No 5 Township Sixty Eight Range Eight, thence West on the North Line of Said quarter Section thirty one perches and thirteen Links to a post. thence South Seventy five perches and Nineteen Links to a post. thence East thirty one perches and thirteen Links to a post. on the East side of said of said [sic] quarter Section. thence North on the East Line of said quarter Section. Section Seventy five perches and fourteen Links to the place of beginning containing Fourteen and Ninety one hundredths acres (14/90/100) Also Five acres off of the North End of the West Side of the West half of the West half of the North East quarter of Section Five (5) in said Township and Four acres out of Twenty acres described as follows. off the West side of the West 1/2 of the W 1/2 of the North East 1/4 of Section Five (5) in the above Township Lying North of Eleven acres and South of Five acres on the North East End of the twenty acres described in the County of Van Buren and State of Iowa and we the said Edward Sleigh and Sophia Sleigh by our attorney John Peseacker Warrant the title against all Legal claims whatever Except against Two mortgages given by Edward Sleigh and Sophia Sleigh to J. K Swales. one to secure the sum of Three hundred and fifty three and 50/100 Dolls being dated the Eighth day of February 1871 and Executed by the said Edward and Sophia Sleigh in presence of E. P. Howard Justice of the Peace the said Sum payable February 8th 1872 Filed for Record Feby 11th 1871 at 11 Oclock A. M. and Recorded in Book ? of Mortgages. Page 79 the other made to secure to the Said J W Swails the sum of one hundred and Eighty Five Dollars ($185) dated Apl 19th 1871 and signed by Edward and Sophia Sleigh Filed for Record Apl 20th 1871 at 10 Oclock A. M. and Recorded in Book ?? of Mortgages Page "8" and acknowledged E P Howard J. P. in Witness Whereof we have hereunto signed our names this the thirtieth day of September A. D. 1871
