Sarah Ann Armstrong Jinkens

Sarah Ann Armstrong, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James A. Armstrong was born near Oquawka, Ill., Feb. 10, 1856, and answered the summons to "Come Up Higher" on Wed., June 7, 1922, at the age of 66 years, 3 months, and 27 days. When she was fourteen or fifteen, her family removed from Ill., to Van Buren County, Ia. and on Nov. 21, 1882, she was united in marriage to W.H.C. Jinkens, to which union four children were born, on of whom, O.C., was called to death at age four. She is survived by her devoted husband, W.H.C. Jinkens, Mrs. Alvin Kerr of Chambersburg, James S. of Luray, and N.C. Jinkens, of Luray, also one step-daughter, Mrs. George Mills of Granger: two brothers, James Armstrong of Kahoka and William Armstrong of Mt. Sterling, Ia., Nellie Armstrong of Terre Haute, Indiana, and Mrs J. P. Smith of Roseville, Ill., a number of grandchildren and a host of friends who mourn her passing. Following her marriage with Mr. Jinkens, they resided on a farm in Bethlehem community in Northwestern Clark Co., for some 35 years, removing to Kahoka some 5 years ago. Besides her own children she reared to maturity four step-children, and has been a mother to her little grandchild Pauline Jinkens, whose mother died when she was an infant. Some 19 years ago, she professed faith in Christ and united with the Bethlehem Baptist Church, under the ministry of Rev. W.M. Cooney, and remained a faithful member of this body until death. Her long years of quiet devotion to home and loved ones, and her unswerving fidelity to the church have furnished abundant proof that her faith was well grounded. For the past 10 years, her health has been gradually failing and from a long lingering illness she has passed to the rest that remaineth for the people of God. The funeral service will be held from the Bethlehem Baptist Church, at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, June 9, and interrment will be made in Bethelem Cemetery.

Memphis Reville June 15, 1922.
