Romance of 25 Years Ago Leads to Wedding Here

Old Love of Couple Rekindled When They Meet After Long Separation

Twenty-five years ago J. S. Bales and Ella Sherod were sweethearts in Van Buren County, Iowa.

They intended to be married, but circumstances separated them. Time passed. The girl married William Forbes and moved to Colorado. Then Bales came to California and married. Twenty-three years slipped by. Mrs. Forbes was left a widow with a family, so returned to her old home in Iowa. Bales became a widower, also with a family.

Last summer he went back to Iowa to visit his parents. They met, wooed and became engaged.

The marriage was solemnized in Glendale, Cal, September 23.

All this came to light last night when friends called on the happy couple in their pretty home amid the orange blossoms at Cypress and Glendora avenues, Covina.
