Married at Glendale, Calif.

At the home of Rev. and Mrs. C. R. Norton, 801 East Wilson Ave., Glendale, Cal., at 5 o’clock Tuesday, September 23, two former Van Buren County people were united in marriage, namely, Mrs. Ella Forbes, whose maiden name was Sherod, and Mr. John S. Bales of Covina, Cal. Mrs. Forbes had lived for some years at Birmingham, Van Buren county, Iowa. She is one of the excellent of the earth. She was born and reared between Keosauqua and Mt. Zion. She recently left her home at Birmingham to come west to become the wife of John S. Bales, who is also a native of “Old Van Buren”. John is a manly man and worthy of the excellent woman who has joined her destiny with his.

A beautiful ring service was performed by Rev. C. R. Norton, who was for five years pastor of the M. E. church at Milton. Mrs. Ella Forbes arrived here a very short time before she became the bride of Mr. Bales. They will be at home to all their friends at Covina, Cal., whenever they may come this way. Send more of your worthy Van Buren county folks who want to enter the matrimonial state and we will see that they make the right start.
