Wm. H. Alexander Admr To John H. Detwiler
Know all men by these presents that I W. H. Alexander the duly appointed and qualified administrator of the estate of William Birch, deceased, late of Van Buren County, State of Iowa. Having been thereunto authorized, empowered and directed in a certain decree, wherein John H. Detwiler was plaintiff and W. H. Alexander, administrator of the estate of William Birch, deceased, was defendant in the Circuit Court of Van Buren County, State of Iowa, do for the consideration of the sum of four hundred dollars, the receipt of which I hereby acknowledge, convey unto the said John H. Detwiler and by these presents have conveyed unto the said John H. Detwiler, his heirs and assigns forever the following described real estate to wit:
The north west quarter of the north east quarter of section twenty-one township sixty-nine north of range eight west in Van Buren County, Iowa, the same being conveyed under said decree. And I further covenant on behalf of the estate of the said William Birch, deceased, to warrant and defend the title to said premises against the lawful claims of all persons whomsoever. In witness whereof I have hereunto signed my name this 4th day of April 1877. Wm. H. Alexander, Administrator.

On this 4th day of April A.D. 1877 personally appeared before me W. A. Gebhardt, a Clerk of Circuit Court within and for Van Buren County, Iowa, W. H. Alexander, administrator of the estate of William Birch decd. personally to me known to be the identical person who signed the foregoing instrument and acknowledged the execution thereof to be their voluntary act and deed for the purposes therein expressed.
