Hi Connie, Being new to genealogical circles is not yet one of the 7 deadly sins that I am aware of. And whatever our avocation in life is, we all had to learn to crawl before we could walk. I did find the EAD family in 1860 Chickasaw co., (for my own benefit to hopefully assist you) In 1870 Mathew & Jane EDE & family are in Jackson twp, Winneshiek co. with children Wm. 17, Ellen 15, & Joseph 9, born Ia. Just because Ann & Mathew are not enumerated on the 1870 with the other family does not indicate a death occurred. Both could have married and moved elsewhere. And if one or both did die, does not mean it occurred in Chickasaw co. The family could have moved to Winneshiek co. the day after the enumeration. I notice the sr. Mathew EDE is on the 1880 mortality schedule for Bremer co. I would suggest you check with the local gene societies and libraries starting with Chickasaw, then Winneshiek. These facilities often have a wealth of information not necessarily found on-line. Good luck in your quest. Dick
