Marilynn Jean Emerson Conard 1932-2015

Marilynn Conard, 83, of Creston, died Monday October 12, 2015 at the Great River Medical Center in Burlington, Ia. Memorial services will be 3:00 p.m. Friday October 16 at the Powers Funeral Home junction of highway 34 and 25 in Creston. Pastor Delores Doench will officiate. Private family burial will be at Harmony Cemetery south of Creston. Family will receive friends during a lunch following the service, at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to either the Platte Center Church or the Murray Saddle Club.

Marilynn Jean Emerson was born April 12, 1932 in her grandparents' home in Greenfield, Iowa to Willard Dow Augustus Emerson and Ada Pearl (Ford) Emerson. She graduated from Creston High School in 1950 and attended some classes at Southwestern Community College.

On December 3, 1950, Marilynn was united in marriage to Robert Conard at the Methodist Church in Ankeny, Iowa. They settled in the Shannon City area. Bob farmed in the Creston area and in 1965 they purchased a farm south of Creston. Marilynn worked for Creston Medical Clinic as a lab and x-ray technician. Marilynn and Bob bowled in doubles league and she bowled in the women's league in Creston, she also enjoyed playing bridge with her friends. She was a member in Platte Center Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include her son, Jim (wife Lesa) Conard of Diagonal; a daughter, Cindy (husband Chris) Mehaffy of Burlington; seven grandchildren, JD Conard of Lenox, Randi Conard of Downs, Kan., Bo (husband Brady) Geidel of Orient, Chevonne Mehaffy of Burlington, Ia., Lucas (wife Sarah) Mehaffy of Yarmouth, Ia., Noah (wife Alisha) Mehaffy of Mt. Pleasant, Ia. and Ryan Conard of Des Moines, Ia.; 17 great-grandchildren; and many other, nieces, nephews and other family.

Marilynn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bob in 2013; a son, Rick and two grandchildren, Ravinne and Robert Conard.
