Dale McGinnis, 76, of Creston, died Thursday, March 05, 2015 at Greater Regional Hospice Home in Creston.

Celebration of Life Memorial Services will be 7:00 p.m. Monday, March 9, 2015 at Powers Funeral Home in Creston. Mary O'Riley will officiate.

Burial will be at a later date.

Open visitation will be from 2 - 7 p.m. Monday at the Powers Funeral Home in Creston near the junction of highways 25 and 34, with family receiving friends from 5 – 7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Greater Regional Cancer Center. Online condolences can be given at www.powersfh.com.

Dale Eugene McGinnis, son of Fred Dale McGinnis and Grace (Donner) McGinnis was born August 23, 1938 in Union Co., IA. Dale graduated from Creston High School in 1957.

In June 1958 Dale was united in marriage to Linda Lou Liken in Creston. They settled in Creston. Dale farmed most of his life. Additionally, he worked as a lineman for REC, then owned and operated a Sears Store. Always farming, he next worked as a salesman for International and Massey Ferguson Dealership in Creston. He was a lifelong resident of Union County. Dale was a member of the Creston Elks Lodge and Union County Cattleman Association.

Dale is survived by his wife Linda McGinnis of Creston; daughter, Sherry (husband Dennis) Rectenbaugh of Orient; a son, Marvin (wife Cecilia) McGinnis of Orient; two sisters, Shirley Fleharty of Creston and Helen Jessen of Creston; two brothers-in-law, John Weisshaar of Des Moines and John Liken of Bellevue; two sisters-in-law, Linnea Liken- Aduddell of Rockford, Ill. and Rita Howie of Glenwood; three grandchildren, Robert Dean (wife Jamie) McGinnis of Bono, Ark., Jessica Rectenbaugh of Creston and Lindsay (husband Steven) Behlers of Orient; four great-grandchildren and one step-great-grandson.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents, a granddaughter Catherine Lee McGinnis in 1983, two brothers Marvin and Robert McGinnis, two sisters Donna McGinnis and Rosalie Weisshaar, his parents-in-law, Dr. John and Dorothy Liken, and brother-in-law, Raymond Fleharty.
