Services for Florence B. Gripp, 86, of 1339 Forest Ave., who died of a heart ailment May 11, 1980 at Broadlawns Medical Center, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 14 at Arnold’s Highland Park Funeral Home. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Born in 1893 in Afton to Henry Newton Mateer and Angeline Holt Mateer, Mrs. Gripp lived in Des Moines 50 years. A graduate of the former LeMars Business College, she was a retired secretary and member of Trinity United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Jacob B.’ three stepdaughters, Virginia Frank of Des Moiens, Eloise Dickinson of Shittier, Calif., and Josephine McClesky of Walker, La.; 12 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.

Friends may call at the funeral home today.
