Boyd A. Eklund, 77, a resident of Gooding, passed away Thursday, March 7, 2013, at Bennett Hills Care and Rehabilitation in Gooding.

Boyd was born Sept. 1, 1935, in Creston, Iowa, the son of Bernard and Edith Eklund, and was the youngest with two brothers and one sister. Boyd attended school in Gooding and afterward worked for several cattle ranches, driving logging truck and was a mechanic for several years,

Boyd married Jean Cahlender on April 26, 1957, in Boise. In 1969, they moved to Fairfield and took over Valley Service from George Perkins. After nearly 30 years, they retired to Yuma, Ariz., and traveled the West. They spent 55 years as best friends and working together.

Boyd is survived by his wife, Jean, of Gooding; his sister, Dorothy Bliss, and her son, Gary and daughter, Toni; and nieces, Pam High and Debbie Thaete. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Paul and Floyd.

At Boyd's request, there will be no funeral service. His request for cremation will be under the care and direction of Demaray Funeral Service, Gooding Chapel.
