Richard died Sunday, February 8, 2015 at West Bridge Care and Rehab in Winterset. He was 84. A visitation with family present to receive friends will be held 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Thursday, February 12 at Ochiltree Funeral Service in Winterset, where funeral services will follow beginning at 1 p.m. Burial will immediately follow the service in the Lorimor Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to the First Baptist Church of Lorimor and online condolences may be made to the family at ochiltree.com.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 66 years, Mona Hammans of Grimes; his three children, Susan (Bill) Jaggi of St. Peters, MO, Denise (Tim) Tyler of Dallas Center, David (Kathy) Hammans of Urbandale; eight grandchildren, Joel Tyler, Nick Wilson, Nathan Wilson, Alex Wilson, A.J. Wilson, Eric Hammans, Evan Hammans and Jessica Hammans; four great-grandchildren, Dominic Hammans, Dakota Wilson, Eden Wilson and Elliott Wilson; other extended family and a host of friends.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents; identical twin brother, Robert Hammans; sister, Gretchen Goecke and a grandson, Marc Tyler.
