On April 12, 1950, Pete was united in marriage to Ava Jean Kline at the St. Edward's Catholic Church in Afton. They were life-long residents of Afton and surrounding areas. Pete worked for the Afton creamery picking up cream and eggs from the local farmers. This is where his love for ice cream started. He also partnered with his father-in-law, Frosty Kline harvesting blue grass. He then purchased and operated Pete's DX for many years. After selling the DX station he began a career as a feed salesman and counter person for Creston Feed and Grain and the Farmers Coop in Afton until retiring. He was an Honorary Member of Friends of Firefighters, member of T.J.'s Card and Coffee Club and a part-time employee of Warren's Tire Shop. As a lifelong member of the Afton Community, he contributed numerous hours for the betterment of the town and schools. Grandpa Pete enjoyed teaching his grandkids and great-grandkids how to fish and hunt – whether they wanted to or not. Pete enjoyed golfing, especially couples nights and tournaments with Avie. He was always looking for a good card game as well. Grandpa Pete enjoyed watching his great grandkids in their numerous athletic events.
