Young, Agnes Christensen -
Agnes Young, Britt, IA (formerly of Lenox) passed away at the Westview Care Center, Britt, IA on February 16,
2004.
Services were held on Thursday, February 19, 2004 at the Coen-Beaty-Pearson Family Funeral Service. Rev. Ray
Block, 1st Lutheran Church conducted the service. Burial was in the Maple Hill Cemetery, Cromwell, IA.
Agnes was born July 8, 1921 in Massena to Chris and Sofie Christensen. She was married to Harold Young, February
1941 in Lenox. She married Kenneth Young, March 27, 1967, Lenox.
She was a homemaker and worked for a short time as a custodian at the Presbyterian Church, Linn Grove, IA. She also
worked for the Rolfe Arrow, Rolfe, IA.; and at the Lenox Care Center for a short time.
She is survived by daughters: Cheral (husband John) Morgan, Clear Lake, IA., and Joyce Means, Creston; a son,
Harold Young, Jr., Gunnison, CO.; a sister Mabel Jensen, Knoxville, IA.; Three grandchildren and 5 greatgrandchildren,
Terry & Todd Applegate and Lance Means and their families, sister-in-law, Regina Christensen, Creston; brother-in-law
& sister-in-law, Bill & Roberta Young Lenox, step-daughter, Rita Young, Des Moines, IA and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Husband Kenny in 1998; 5 sisters, Dagmar Christensen, Clara Christensen,
Rose Karras, Violet Beal; a sister who died as a child in Denmark, 2 brothers, Harold Christensen and an infant brother;
and son-in-law, Eugene Applegate.
Agnes was a graduate of the Kent High School with the class of 1938
She was active in the Methodist Church wherever she lived and taught Sunday School for Young Women for 20 years.
