Sharp, Lyle -
Lyle Sharp, Corning, Iowa passed away at his home in Creston, IA on Friday, August 1, 2003.
Services were held on Wednesday, August 6th at the Coen-Beaty-Pearson Family Funeral Service of Creston, IA.
with Rev. Barbara Zimmerman of St. John's United Church of Christ in Creston. Interment of the cremains will
be in the Graceland Cemetery, Creston, IA.
Lyle was born March 21, 1929 in Osceola, IA., to James Albert and Ruth Mae (Marohn) Sharp. On April 30, 1953
he was united in marriage to Virginia Mae Jeter in Afton, IA. He worked for the IA Department of Transportation,
he was the Foreman with the Highway Commission in Howard and Ringgold Counties.
He was a member of the VFW Post #4561 in Cresco, IA; the American Legion in Creston. He was a member of the Pool
League in Cresco, IA (he was an avid and skilled Billiard Player). He served during the Korean Conflict in the U.S.
Army from 1950-1953.
He was pre-deceased by his parents; 2 brothers: James A. Sharp, Jr., and Raymond Sharp.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Sharp of Mt. Ayr, IA. and a son: Lonnie (Diane) Sharp of Des Moines, IA.
Sisters: Marilyn Briles, Corning, IA., Hazel Nixon, Lamed, KS. Sheryl (Steve) Paul of Waukon, IA. Sister-in-law:
Shirley Sharp, Olathe, KS.
